Job Application Forms: Know the Application Form Structure

One important thing to keep in mind before and when filling out your job application forms is the structure of the form. Basically the form is comprised of 5 sections:

1. Personal Details

Here, you will be asked to write down basic information about yourself such as your name, age, sex, address, telephone and cellular phone numbers, and e-mail addresses, among others.

2. Educational Attainment

Here, you will be asked to write down where you went to school from pre-school to college, and beyond. There is a good chance you will be asked to make a timeline for this, so it might be good to note down the years in which you studied in which school, to save you from the inconvenience of doing so later on.

3. Work Experience

Here, you will be asked to write down all the companies you have previously worked for, even on a part-time basis. You should indicate the duration in which you worked for these companies, and give a basic description of the company and what jobs you performed for them. Be sure to highlight positions related to what you are applying for in your new company.

4. Hobbies and Interests

Here, you will be asked to write down what you like to do during your spare time. Be honest and include those sports and leisure activities you really like doing. At the same time, it would also be good if you have interests that are related to the company or position you are applying for. For example, if you want to be a magazine writer, it’s expected that you read and write a lot during your spare time.

5. References

Here, you will be asked to write down the names and contact information of people who can attest to your good moral standing, work ethic, and your expertise in the job you are applying for. It would be good to list the names of former professors or former employers who think highly of you. Remember to list the names of people who can attest to your skills in the job you’re applying for.

Job Application Forms: Personal Statement Section

In some job application forms, you may be asked to fill-out a sixth section— the personal statement section. Here, you will be asked to show yourself in your best light. You have to inform you prospective employer why you want the job you’re applying for, why you are perfect for the job, and why you are much better than the other applicants you’re competing with.

This is one of the most important parts of the job application form because it will leave a final impression in the mind of the person reading it. When applying for a job it is truly important to know how to properly fill up your job application forms.
