Job Application Cover Letter
You Don’t Have to Be a Master Writer to Write a Great Cover Letter
The job application cover letter is a one-page letter you attach before your resume. If you are submitting an application in-person or through regular mail then you should staple your cover letter before the first page of your resume.
On the other hand, if you are submitting your resume through e-mail, you should use the space allotted for the body of your resume for your cover letter. Your resume should then be sent as an attachment in that message.
You don’t need to be a master writer to come up with a good cover letter. All it needs is some hard work on your part, so you can convince your prospective employer to give your resume a read and give you a ring or send you an e-mail message.
With this in mind, you should address your letter to a specific person. If you are applying for a certain department, then you should address it to the head of the department. If you are responding for a job ad, the name of the person you should address the letter to should be indicated there.
Now You Can Write an Excellent Cover Letter and Get That Job
The first paragraph of your letter is very important. Think of it as your thesis statement when writing essays and research papers. What is your main objective in sending this letter? You can write it in this format: “I am (name), a graduate of (course) from (university). I am interested in applying for a (position) position in your company.”
Then you may want to explain how you found out about the company and why you decided to apply for it. You should highlight a few specific skills that will make you a big asset to the company. It would be good if you could provide a short story about a particular experience in which your skills and your personality really shined.
Narrating a past work or organizational experience would be good in this part. Don’t make it too long. A maximum of 4 sentences would probably be best. Show that you are very excited to work for their company. Write your job application cover letter well and you should make your prospective employer excited to interview you as well.
